As a project within the Bosch Alumni Network's media cluster, a group of Bosch program alumni is organising an excursion to Bosnia and Herzegovina, where there will be a general election in early October 2018. The Bosnian elections come at a time when the western Balkans region is at a crossroads, and their results will be indicative of whether Bosnia and Herzegovina turns toward or away from Europe in the future. What’s more, they are an opportunity for journalists across the Bosch Alumni Network to explore the challenges of reporting on ethnically divided societies.
The study tour will be based in Sarajevo, and will involve meeting with politicians, journalists and other political stakeholders just weeks ahead of the vote. Participants will gain a working knowledge of Bosnian politics, the region’s ethnic divisions, and foreign influence in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The study trip will take place from September 11th to 15th, 2018.
A maximum of 12 journalists can take part. Expenses during the trip will be covered; travelling expenses will be reimbursed at 50 percent, up to a maximum of 150€ per participant.
Participants should have good knowledge of English and some basic knowledge about the Balkans region. You should also plan to publish article(s) from the study tour in your local media upon return.
If you are interested, please submit an application online through the Bosch Alumni Network’s portal here: https://indivsurvey.de/umfrage/135764/3gR3hT.
